Doraemon X (Kana: ドラえもんX) is a 1996 one-shot doujin manga by Katsushi Niwa.

Penned during the author's "dark age", Doraemon X gives out a dark twist on the classic Doraemon manga, going to the extent of showing actual murder.

Prologue[]

When I first started my manga career, a lot of people compared my art style to that of Fujiko Fujio. That comparison struck me like a lightning bolt, and ever since then I've been adding various little winks to their work in mine. Just now, after finding out about F-san's death, I figured out I could do him a little tribute by taking his most famous work and adding my little twist onto it. Doraemon X is the result of those thoughts, hope you enjoy reading this manga as much as I enjoyed writing and drawing it!

Story[]

Chapter 1[]

The chapter starts out like the average Doraemon story: Nobita gets scolded at school and at home, and comes to Doraemon for help. That is, until he notices a little black rhombus on Doraemon's forehead. In an attempt to keep Nobita from tapping it, Doraemon tries to warn him that once he taps the rhombus, there is no going back for either one of them.

However, it is no use, as Nobita's curiosity gets the best of him and he ultimately taps the rhombus, which causes it to turn red and Doraemon's body to start flailing and glowing uncontrollably, until, when Nobita opens his eyes, Doraemon is lying completely still and unresponsive on the floor. Remembering Doraemon's tail was a switch, Nobita decides to pull it. Once he does, Doraemon awakens once again, but it's not the Doraemon that Nobita knew, but rather a battle-hardened military robot ready to unravel his power to its full extent at any given time.
